ARTIST'S STATEMENT
By tracing shadows, reflections or the absences left by old presences, I create illusory paintings, objects and installations that play with perception, memory and time. What was previously lost or forgotten gains visibility or takes on an imaginary life, from archive photographs to extinct plants. By painting traces of natural elements: light, the tide, puddles, trees, leaves, windswept or foggy landscapes, the work is both serene and ghostly. Both present and absent, seen and unseen, there is a contemplation on loss and the ephemeral and transient, where past and present exist side by side.
